A Poem Form for Christmas

This form is Acrostic. It spells out something diagonally on the left side of each line. This form is a bit of a challenge to create in a rhyming poem. More of a challenge is a Double Acrostic, where in addition to left side is the spelling out on the right side in sequence after the left side. Haven't tried this yet. But here an Acrostic Poem for the season.

Celebrating each other this day
Happy in giving; a smile received
Roof tops lit bright, displays array
In making this day one perceived
Special in giving thanks we covey
Today ours to celebrate,  joy achieved
Memories of blessings here to stay
Amazed at the kindness, ours conceived
Signaling Christmas is here without delay

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas!

A Poem Form For Thanksgiving

This form is Acrostic. It spells out something diagonally on the left side of each line. This form is a bit of a challenge to create in a rhyming poem. More of a challenge is a Double Acrostic, where in addition to left side is the spelling out on the right side in sequence after the left side. Haven't tried this yet. But here an Acrostic Poem for the season.

Thankful As...

Thankful as my life be
Happy to have life to give
A blessing in giving to thee
Nurturing other's life to live
Kindness always being key
Forming thankfulness to believe
Uniting in time as happy as glee
Laughter being a gift to receive
Always thankful the grace you see
Special as the life you gave, us to live

A Cute Seasonal Rhyme for Children

This poem is a cute little Halloween poem sponsored by Poetry Foundation.

by Ken Nesbitt

A Rhyme Form for The Season

This form is Acrostic. It spells out something diagonally on the left side of each line. This form is a bit of a challenge to create in a rhyming poem. More of a challenge is a Double Acrostic, where in addition to left side is the spelling out on the right side in sequence after the left side. Haven't tried this yet. But here an Acrostic Poem for the season.

Happy Halloween

Horror has become the theme
A night that now is a fright
People dress to the extreme
Putting on a look to excite
Your senses break out in a scream

Humor in fright the theme this night
Aiming towards a treat the scheme
Looking a fright one just might
Locating your flashlight as a beam
Onto the house that's lit bright
Where the decorations reign supreme
Electing to venture out this night
Eerie, thou how Halloween may seem
Now happy with your treats, it's a delight

My Old Published Poem-2005

This poem of mine was published in 2005 in a literary poetry book; which, as of 2018 the organization  no longer exist or mutated into a larger organization/company. Here the poem and the accompanying  profile. Notice: My early poems did not rhyme much or not at all. I learned throughout my years of writing poems, that I love to write rhyming poems. But, content still exist.

Don't Eliminate Me!

Don't look at what I have been,
But what I am!
Don't hold me back because of my mistakes,
But let me excel because of my skills!
Don't look at my failures,
But look at my accomplishments!
Don't look at my past,
But look at my future!
Don't eliminate me because I'm not perfect,
Because neither are you!

Authors Profile: I wrote this poem as a reflection for all of us whom at some point in their lives had made a wrong choice; and that wrong choice changed our lives forever. My poem is a plead to everyone to remember our miscalculations when we see others who deserve a chance to recovery from their oversight.

Breaking the Rules Comment

Hello Guys

You know, I love reading and writing poetry. Although am a learned graduate with a double B.A. and half a Masters, my study major was not English, nor Creative Writing, nor any kind of Poetry study. However, English has been my favorite subject since I've been able to read and write. My college experience-later in life-did include writing several essays. Including, a 25 and 40 page existing essays where I scored “A's”. My essay's basically raised my grade to “A+ to B's”. I always-clearly every time- received an “A” on my essays, even the off-topic ones (few). Thus, I knew and know I can write interestingly enough to receive an “A”; to me, that means something. This prompted me to write poetry again. You see, I used to write poetry often, but prior to my blog and the publishing of my Chapbooks I had only written them on occasion, until about the last 2-3 years now writing them pretty steady. When an acquaintance read my poetry she told me they are really good, that I need to put them in a book and after having a very emotional experience on Social Media; thus, my published books on Amazon. Writing poetry now pretty often and have learned I like writing rhyming poetry. But, additionally, have learned there is more to writing poetry than just rhyming. Honestly guys, my A-V Forms project helped me see this. Have also learned, my passion in writing is with poetry. Am currently working on fourth Chapbook/book of poetry to be published 1-2 years from now. In the meantime, have decided to study and learn more about the forms and terms of poetry. I once read that poetry can be fun; it can be lovely, pretty, funny, erotic, satiric, depressing.....; basically, every and anything a human can be. Sorry guys, don't remember where I read that as was a while ago. I wholly believe that breaking the standard rules of poetry forms is okay; after all we are human, that's what we do, right! Also, who created the forms and style like the Shakespearean form/style, other than Shakespeare himself? Point here being, everyone has their own likes and way of writing poetry to create their own individual style; with, so many possibilities, it can be mind blowing to think about. Me, I like rhyming and will always be a rhyming poet, no matter the form, even if I have to break a few poetry writing rules. To me it's the message in the poem that matters most or more so than sticking to the poetry form rules; however, that's the human in me talking. Okay, lets learn and get going to becoming your own creator of poetry form/style and Let's Break Some Rules!

Peace-Doris Elaine

Published Poem Books exerts: Social I, Not & Not I, But I Am

Social I, Not

Lying In Wait

It came to me as a storm
Leaving me greatly transformed
I know not where to turn
This thing I had never felt
Was something that made me melt
Tore a whole deep in my heart
That hurt when threatened to depart
Now time goes by as I lay in wait
Hoping time would again open the gate
To let this storm that left me transformed
In once again so my heart would be warmed!

Not I, But I Am

What You Gave Me

The Journey presented hard for me
but the result did improve.
What once was my reality;
now resulting in my approve.
In becoming my actuality
what you gave me did remove
found weakness I can now agree;
was my heart that couldn't move.
Realizing this I wanted to flee,
but instead, now given a reprove.
My place I now stand in glee,
for what you gave to me,
a heart that knows how to bleed.

One is live on Amazon, but first book I got the ISPN # wrong, so had to submit it again; which will take a day or two to publish.

Thus, once it's ready will post both links here.
Please, keep an eye out!
